Laughter, the best medicine

A good laugh is not only enjoyable but also promotes better health. Laughter is a revitalizing tonic that heightens and brightens mood, gently relieving tensions and social constraints. It costs nothing.

Here are some benefits of laughter:

REDUCTION OF STRESS HORMONES

Laughter is the best tonic in stressful situations. When we laugh we cannot be worrying at the same time. Laughter reduces at least 4 of neuroendocrine hormones associated with stress response.

Stress is one of the most important factors for cause of high blood pressure. In experiments, it has been proved that there is drop of 10-20 mm pressure after participating for 10 minutes in a laughter session.

IMMUNE SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT

It has been proved that negative emotions like anxiety, depression or anger weaken the immune system of the body, thereby reducing its fighting capacity against diseases.

Researchers have found that laughter increases the production of antibodies which in turn strengthens the immune system.

PAIN REDUCTION

Humour allows a person to forget about pains. It draws attention away from the source of discomfort at least momentarily. Laughter causes the production of endorphins, one of the bodyโ€™s natural pain killers.

CARDIAC EXERCISE

When you are having a good belly laugh, you will find that your heart is racing. You can give your heart a good workout several times a day just by laughing.

RESPIRATION

Frequent belly laughter empties your lungs of more air than it takes in, resulting in a cleansing effect - similar to deep breathing. Especially recommended to patients suffering from asthma and other respiratory ailments.

MAKES YOU LOOK YOUTHFUL

Laughter is an excellent exercise for your facial muscles. It tones up the muscles of the face and improves facial expressions.

When you laugh, there is an increase in blood supply, which nourishes the facial skin making it glow. People who laugh look more cheerful and attractive.

By squeezing the tear glands through laughter, it moistens the eyes adding a little sparkle to them. Laughter exercises the abdominal muscles and helps improve the muscle tone of those with pot-bellies.

The more direct impact of worry comes when worry causes you to neglect your self-care: to eat poorly, not cleanse and moisturize your skin, abuse alcohol, take up smoking or fail to protect your skin from the sun. Also, keep in mind that frowning and worry affect your Inner Beauty, too, as people perceive you as someone negative who is not enjoyable to be around, regardless of your looks. As for smiling, itโ€™s always a good idea, because smiling tells your brain to release serotonin and dopamine, the feel-good neurochemicals that improve mood.

Smile. Going around with a dour old face on isnโ€™t going to make you look younger or better in any way. Smile and laugh as much as possible and people wonโ€™t even have a chance to notice your age

Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. Itโ€™s a natureโ€™s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesnโ€™t look so good. While itโ€™s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. Itโ€™s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologistโ€™s isnโ€™t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...
