Your hair can get sunburnt too

Your hair can get sunburnt tooItโ€™s not just your skin that has to endure the fury of the scorching sun. Your hair is also susceptible and can get sunburnt easily.

Extreme exposure to the sun results in UV rays attacking your hair cuticles with such vehemence that your locks canโ€™t lie flat and look totally frazzled out. Hair also loses all its former smoothness, shine and luster. The moisture from the hair is also lost making it extremely dry, brittle and unmanageable.

Additionally, sun rays also lighten the color of your hair in exactly the same way as if it has been chemically lightened or bleached. Severe sun exposure can even burn your scalp, leading to hair-loss in many cases. Acutely sunburnt tresses need to be chopped off , a trichologist (hair doctor) would be able to treat your severely damaged tresses and suggest suitable deep conditioning and damage-repair treatments.

But as always, prevention is always better than cure. So it's a good idea to wear suitable head gears like hats as much as possible during the summer months, especially if you are holidaying in a place which has plenty of sun and sand. Also special hair care products meant for protecting your hair in summer should be chosen. These are usually in the form of leave-in conditioners with an SPF factor, and they should be applied frequently when you are out in the sun, just as you would apply sunscreen to your skin. A home-remedy thatโ€™s extremely beneficial for damaged and dry tresses is a bi-weekly hot-oil massage with virgin coconut oil.

And if you love to swim in cool waters of a swimming pool in summer, do read this post -- there are some great tips and suggestions for you to follow to protect your skin and hair from chlorinated waters.

Limit your time outdoors. Spending a lot of time outdoors in the sun can both dry out and damage your hair. Split ends are especially a problem during the summer. To avoid them, you should have your hair trimmed on a regular basis during the summer months. Most hair stylists recommend getting your hair cut every six weeks. By getting your hair trimmed often, you can eliminate a lot of split ends and damaged hair. You should also purchase a leave in conditioner for your hair if you will be exposed to the sun for several hours.

When you're out in the sun try to keep your hair covered with a bandana or hat. Remember your scalp can get sunburn if you don't protect it. If you don't want to do this, treat your hair to an intensive conditioning treatment after a lot of sun exposure - again, coconut oil or olive oil make excellent (and cheap!) conditioning treatments - apply it to your hair overnight, or a few hours before you wash.

Give your hair a break from the hairdryer during summer, especially if you have oily hair. Heat stimulates the scalp, which boosts the production of oil.
    - Read the ingredients on the products you normally use. During summer, you might want to use those that are designed to replenish," since those products add moisture to the hair.
    - Restore the moisture to your hair by dabbing some deep conditioner treatment or cream from the ends up. Pin it or wrap it in a plastic bag or shower cap, and sleep on it or leave it for as long as you can. Aim for at least an hour.
    - Use a clarified shampoo to remove toxins from your hair, such as chlorine and even silicon residue from your daily shampoo. Since clarifies are very strong, its best not to use them more than twice a week.
    - Before hitting the beach or pool, apply a "leave-in" conditioner, and wear your hair up in a knot, bun, ponytail or braids.

Highly Effective Indian Home remedies For Delayed Periods

Delayed periods or Irregular menstrual periods have become very common these days for a lot of women in their reproductive age and they suffer great agonies when their period does not come on time. A delay of 4-5 days may be fine but if it exceeds 8 days, then it's certainly a cause for concern. In this post, I'll be sharing highly effective Indian home remedies for your delayed periods . I'd been a long sufferer of irregular periods during my teenage to early twenties. Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesnโ€™t look so good. While itโ€™s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. Itโ€™s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologistโ€™s isnโ€™t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...
